A bus travel a distance of 10 km with a speed of 40 km/ hr and 20 km with a speed of 30 km/ hr. Calculate the average speed of the bus

av speed =total distance /total time

let time taken to cover 10 km be t1 and to cover 20 km be t2

s1=d1/t1

40=10/t1

t1=1/4 hr

s2=d2/t2

30=20/t2

t2=2/3 hr

total time=1/4+2/3=11/12 hr

av speed=30*12/11=32.7 km/h
