hi mate!!

Distance = 120 km
speed= 40 km / hr
speed = distance / time
time = distance/ speed= 3 hour

for return of train
distance = 120 km
speed = 30 km/ hr
time = 4 hr

average speed = total distance / total time taken

= 120+120/3+4
=34.2 km / hr

hope it helps !!☺☺☺

Answer:

34.3 km/hr.

Step-by-step explanation:

Average speed=total distance travelled/total Time taken

total distance travelled=120+120=240km

Time taken for going=distance/speed =120/40=3 hrs.

Time taken for return=distance/speed=120/30=4 hrs

thus,

total time taken=3+4=7 hrs.

Average speed=240/7=

34.3 km/hr.
