A bus travels in a speed of 50km/h in a straight road and return back with a speed of 70km/h. Calculate the average speed and velocity

Average speed = total distance/total time

Distance=x

so total distance= 2x

total time= x/50  +  x/70

so average speed = 2x / (x/50 +  x/70)

so answer = 2x/ (12x/350)

answer=  58.3 km/h

 

Average velocity = total displacement/ total time

Since the car came back to original position so displacement=0

So Average velocity = 0m/s
