A cab ride in a small town costs a base fee of $5.25 per person, plus $0.75 for every mile. So the cost of a cab ride for one person can be determined by the equation y=0.75x+5.25, where y is the fare and x is the distance of the ride in miles.

Given : A cab ride in a small town costs a base fee of $5.25 per person, plus $0.75 for every mile.

cost of a cab ride for one person can be determined by the equation y=0.75x+5.25,

where y is the fare and x is the distance of the ride in miles

To Find : Graph the equation by finding two points that satisfy the equation

Solution:

y=0.75x+5.25,

x = 1

=> y = 0.75(1)  + 5.25

=> y = 0.75 + 5.25

=> y = 6

( 1, 6)

x = 5

=> y = = 0.75(5)  + 5.25

=> y = 3.75 + 5.25

=> y = 9

(5 , 9)

( 1, 6)

go 1 unit right and 6 unit up

(5 , 9)

go 5 unit right and 9 unit up

Draw a straight line passing through these two points
