Answer:

210 soldiers

after 15 days food consumed by 490 soldiers is for 50 days

x. no of soldiers join them

that is

490 + x

because of this food provision lasts for 35 days

the food consumed by a soldier is same thus the equation s

490 soldiers ---50 days

(490+x) soldiers -----35 days

490 * 50 = (490+x) * 35

24500 = 17150 + 35x

35x= 7350

x = 210

thus 210 soldiers joined the camp

please reply if u understood the answer

Question :

A camp had provisions for 490 soldiers for 65 days. after 15 days more soldiers arrived and the remaining provisions lasted for 35 days. how many soldiers joined the camp?

Answer :

Given :

A camp had provisions for 490 soldiers for 65 days

More soldiers arrived after 15days

Provisions lasted for 35days.

To find :

The number of soldiers who joined the camp

Solution :

Let the food for one soldier for one day be x.

Total provision = 490 x 65 x x

=31850x

Provisions consumed for 15days = 490 x 15 x x

= 7350x

Provisions left = 31850x - 7350x

=24500x

It is said that 24500x provisions lasted for 35 days

Food for one person for 35 days = 35x x = 35x

Therefore no. Of people who consumed 24500x provisions = 24500x/35x

=700

Therefore no. Of soldiers who joined the camp = (700-490)

=210

Hence, 210 soldiers joined the camp.
