They finish 50% of the work in 6 days

Given:

  • A can complete a piece of work in 20 days.
  • B can complete 20% of the work in 6 days.

Find:

  • If they work together in how many days can they finish 50% of the work, if they work together.

Explanation:

  • B can complete 20% of the work in 6 days.
  • Then he can complete the work 100% = 6×\frac{100}{20} = 30 days.
  • Then one day work of B = \frac{1}{30}
  • A can complete a piece of work in 20 days.
  • Then one day work of A = \frac{1}{20}
  • Total work from both A and B in one day =  \frac{1}{30} +  \frac{1}{20} = \frac{1}{12}
  • Total work they can complete in a 12 days.
  • They finish 50% of the work in 6 days.
