Answer:

6 days

Step-by-step explanation:

A takes 6 days

B takes 9 days

total work= lcm(6,9) = 18

efficiency of A= 18/6 = 3

efficiency of B= 18/9 = 2

they started working together and a is called off 4 days before the completion of the work

so for 4 days B worked alone = 4*2 = 8 work is done by B alone

remaining work= 18-8 = 10

so 10 work is completed by a and b together = 10/5 = 2 days

so the total time taken to complete the work is 2+4 = 6 days
