Let us assume there are two cans namely C1 and C2.

As per the question, C1 has 35% milk and 65% water. C2 has 50% milk and 50% water.

Now let us assume that we have taken x quantity of milk from C1 and y quantity from C2.

So we can write that, (35x + 50y)/(65x + 50y) = (3/5)

after cross multiplication we get, x - 5y = 0.------------(i)

Also the total quantity is 48 L

i.e. x + y = 48.-----------(ii)

solving (i) & (i) we get, x = 40 L and y = 8 L.

That means we will take 40 L from container C1 and 8 L from container C2.
