let the total work be 'x' units
A's 16 day's work = 2x/ 3 units
A's 1 day's work = 2x / 16 × 3 = 2x / 48
= x / 24
B's 3 days' work = 1×x/ 4
B's 1 day's work = x / 3 × 4 = x / 12
when they worked together,
(A + B)^s 1 day's work = (x / 24) + (x / 12)
= (x + 2x )/ 24 = 3x / 24 = x / 8
Answer: A and B together can finish the work in 8 days.
