Let us assume the complete work be as x

a can complete the work in 25 days

So in one day, a can do x/25 part of the work

b can complete the work in 20 days,

So in one day, a can do x/20 part of the work

In five days, work completed by both = 5*(x/25) + 5*(x/20) = x/5+x/4 = 9x/20

So 9x/20 part of the work is completed in five days.

Now, remaining work=x–9x/20 = 11x/20

Since b takes 20 days to complete ‘x’ amount of work, 11x/20 part of the work can be completed by b will be:

(11x/20)/(x/20)= 11

So, ‘b’ can complete the remaining work in 11 days
