Answer:

b will take 3.5 days

total time = 7 + 3.5 = 10.5 Days

Step-by-step explanation:

Let Say W is the work to be done

A do in 14 Days

A do in 1 day = W/14

B do in 1 day = W/21

Work done by A&B together in 1 day = W/14 + W/21 =  5W/42

Work done by A& B together in 7 Days = 7 * (5W/42) =  5W/6

Remaining work = W - 5W/6   = W/6

W/21 is done by B in 1 Day

so W/6 will be done by B  =  (1/W/21) * (W/6)

=(21/W)(W/6)

= 3.5 Days

Total time taken = 7 days together + 3.5 Days by B = 10.5 Days

total work = 42 units
work done by both a(3 units) and b(2 units) in one day= 5 units
work done by both in 7 days = 5×7days=35 units
remaining work done by b (7 units)= 7/2 = 3.5 days
total days = 7+3.5=10.5 days
