A can do a piece of work in 40 days .He works as it for 8 days and then B finishes the remaining work in 16 days how long will it take to complete the work if they do it together.

here is ur answer.....


if a man A completes the work in 40 days, then he finishes 1/40th work in 1 day.

if he had worked for 8 days then , he finishes
1 \div 40 \times 8
which is 1/5 the of the work.

so the work remaining is 1-1/5
which is
= 4/5 .

so, man B completes 4/5 work in 16 days.

then one day work will be

= 4/5/16

which is 1/20.

now, as we got to know the capacities of both the person we have to add them up to get to know the capacity to complete the work together.

so,

1/20+1/40
=>
lcm will be
40.

so it will be

2+1/40
which is

3/40.

this is one day work ...... the number of days is the reverse.

so 40/3 is the total number of days.

13.4 days is the answer in
avg.

exact is
13.33333333333 continues.
