A can do a piece of work in 40 days.He works at it for 8 days and B finishes remaining work in 16 days.how long will they take to complete the work if they do it together?​

A one day work is 1/40

So 8 day work is 8/40=1/5

After 8 days the work left is 1-1/5= 4/5

Now B finishes remaining 4/5 work in 16 days so one day work for B is

(4/5)/16=1/20

Now, if both do work together then one day work is 1/40+1/20=3/40

So total number of days taken are 40/3 = 13(1/3) days
