Given :-

  • A completes work in 40 days.
  • A+B together complete work in 30 days.

Solution :-

Total work = L.C.M of (40,30)

Total work = 120

And :-

==> Efficiency of A = Total work/time

==> Efficiency of A = 120/40

==> Efficiency of A = 3

Similarly :-

==> Efficiency of A+B = 120/30

==> Efficiency of A+B =4

Now :-

==> Efficiency of A = 3

==> Efficiency of A+B = 4

Therefore;

Efficiency of B = 1

==> No. of days taken by B = 120/1

==> No. of days taken by B = 120 days

Hence :-

B will take 120 days to finish the work.
