Boy Score=80 marks
Failed by=12 marks

Pass %=40%

Means If he scored 12 marks more he can get 40%
40%=(80+12)=92 marks

Let Maximum marks be=X
A/Q
40% of x=92
40%×x=92
40/100×x=92
2x/5=92
x=92×5/2
x=46×5
x=230 marks

Maximum Marks=230 marks
