Answer :

Given A candidate got total votes  =  47500
And,
That candidate defeated by his opponent by a margin of 5000 votes.
SO,
Winning candidate got total votes  =  47500 + 5000 = 52500

And

Total votes for both candidates  =  47500 + 52500  =  100000

So,

The percent of votes obtained by the winning candidate  =
52500/100000×100=52.5%

Voted achieved by the winning candidate = 47500 + 5000 = 52500
Total Votes = 47500 + 52500 = 100000
Percentage of votes by the winning candidate = 52500/100000*100 = 52.5%
