Given

u=0, T=8 sec,  S=12m

Since s=ut+1/2at^2

Hence by replacing values we get the value of a to be equal to 12/32 = 3/8

Ans is 3/8

Acceleration of car is 3.75 m/s²

Correct question

A car accelerates uniformly from rest. After 8 sec it has traveled a distance of 120 meter , the average acceleration of the car is?

Solution

Here we have ;

  • Car starts from rest
  • After 8 seconds, it travels distance of 120 m

We have to find ;

  • Acceleration of car

• As car starts from rest, initial velocity (u) = 0

• Time (t) = 8 s

• Distance (s) = 120 m

Now using 2nd equation of motion :

→ s = ut + ½at²

Substuting values,

→ 120 = 0 × 8 + ½ × a × 8²

→ 120 = 0 + ½ × a × 64

→ 120 = 32a

→ a = 120/32

a = 3.75 m/s²

Hence,

Acceleration of car = 3.75 m/s²
