Given :

  • initial velocity = 36 km / hr
  • final velocity = 72 km / hr
  • time taken = 10 seconds

Unit conversion :

In order to convert km / hr into m / s multiply by 5 / 18

u = 36 \times  \frac{5}{18}  = 10 \frac{m}{s}

v = 72 \times  \frac{5}{18}  = 20 \frac{m}{s}

Solution :

By using first kinematic equation ,

 \boxed{ \blue{v = u + at}}

here ,

  • v= final velocity
  • u = initial velocity
  • a = acceleration
  • t = time taken

substituting the given values in the above equation we get,

 \implies{20 = 10 + a \times 10}

 \implies{10 = 10a}

 \boxed{ \red{a = 1 \frac{m}{ {s}^{2} } }}

By using the second kinematic equation ,

\boxed{ \blue{s = ut +  \frac{1}{2} a {t}^{2} }}

here ,

  • s= distance

substituting the given values in the above equation we get,

 \implies{s = 10 \times 10 +  \frac{1}{2}  \times 1 \times 100}

 \boxed{ \red{s = 150 \: m}}
