Answer

Acceleration = 2 m/s²

Given

A car acquires a velocity of 20 m/s in 10 s starting from rest

To Find

The acceleration

Point to be noted

1st equation of motion

v = u + at

where ,

v denotes final velocity

u denotes initial velocity

a denotes uniform acceleration

t denotes time

Solution

Final velocity , v = 20 m/s

Time , t = 10 s

Initial velocity , u = 0 m/s

∵ Starting from rest

Acceleration , a = ? m/s²

Apply 1st equation of motion ,

v = u + at

⇒ (20) = (0) + a(10)

⇒ 20 = 0 + 10a

⇒ 20 = 10a

⇒ 10a = 20

a = 2 m/s²

So , Acceleration , a = 2 m/s²
