the second half is further divided into two parts

the speed of two parts of second half are 50kmph and 70kmph

average speed=50+70/2=120/2=60kmph

this is the average speed of 2nd half

i.e . 60kmph

speed of 1st half=40kmph

so average speed of whole journey=60+40/2=100/2=50kmph
