Answer:

The ratio of distances is 9:8

Step-by-step explanation:

Speed = Distance / Time

Distance = Speed * Time

For the first part of the journey

Speed = 30 kmph

Time = 3 hours

=> Distance = 30 * 3 km

                    = 90 km

For the second part of the journey

Speed = 40 kmph

Time = 2 hours

=> Distance = 40 * 2 km

                    = 80 km

Therefore:

Ratio of distances in the two parts = 90 km / 80 km

                                                          =  9/8

                                                          =  9:8
