GIVEN

• A car covers 72 km in 2 hours .

• A train covers 120 km in 3 hours.

FORMULA

Speed =  \frac{distance}{taken \: time}

SOLUTION

• Let v1 is the speed of car and v2 is the speed of train

By using formula of speed

 \rarr \: \: v1 =  \cancel\frac{72}{2}  = 36 \: km  \: {s}^{ - 1}

it becomes 36 dividing 72 by 2

  \rarr \: \: v2 =  \cancel\frac{120}{3}  = 40km \:  {s}^{ - 1}

it becomes 40 dividing 120 by 3

Now the ratio of v1 and v2 =

 \frac{v1}{v2}  =   \cancel\frac{36}{40}  =  \frac{9}{10}

v1 : v2 = 9 : 10
