Let the time for 1st round be tand second round be t2.

Then Average velocity = Total distance travelled / total time taken
= S + S2 / t + t2

Time taken to cover s1 distance = s1 / v1 secs.

Time taken to cover s2 distance = s2 / v2 secs.

.

Total time taken = (s1/v1) + (s2/v2) = (s1v2 + s2v1) / (v1 + v2)

Total diplacement = s1 + s2

.

Average velocity = (s1 + s2) / [ (s1v2 + s2v1) / (v1 + v2) ]

. = (s1 + s2) (v1 + v2) / (s1v2 + s2v1)

. = (s1v1 + s2v2) + (s1v2 +s2v1) / (s1v2 + s2v1)

. = [ (s1v1 + s2v2) / (s1v2 + s2v1) ] + [ (s1v2 +s2v1) / (s1v2 + s2v1) ]

. = [ (s1v1 + s2v2) / (s1v2 + s2v1) ] + 1
