To find :

The acceleration of car in m/s²

Given :

  • initial velocity , u= 70km/h or 20m/s
  • final velocity , v = 36km/h or 10m/s
  • time = 5 s

Formula to be applied:

  • acceleration = (v-u)/t

Solution :

given, v = 10 m/s

u = 20 m/s

t = 5

So, acceleration = (v-u)/t

or, acceleration = (10-20)/5

acceleration = (-10)/5

or, acceleration = -2 m/s²

so, The acceleration is negative

hence, retardation = 2m/s²
