Solution : This question be solve by unitary method as follows:

[•°• Speed = Distance/time ]

[ Note That:]

[ 1km/h = 1000/3600 m/s]

[•°• Thus, 1km/h = 5/18m]

1 hour = 60 minutes

In 60 minutes, the car covers 40 km.

In 1 minute, the car covers 40/60 km = 2/3 km

In 15 minutes, the car covers 2/3 × 15km = 2×5km

= 10km

Alternatively:

The car covers 40 km in 1 hour that is the car covers 40 km in 60 minutes.

Let the car cover x km in 15 minutes.

At constant speed, the two quantities - time taken and the distance covered - are indirect proportion.

Thus, 40/60 = x/15 => x = 40×15/60 = 10

Hence,the car will cover 10 km into 15 minutes.
