A car is moving on a straight road and following the above şpeed -time graph (fig-23).Calculate:
a) The acceleration of the car between CD
b) Speed of car at t= 55 sec.

Answer:

At constant speed, acceleration is zero, The component of acceleration along the direction of motion changes the speed. The component perpendicular to the direction of motion changes the direction. So constant speed means acceleration, if any, stays perpendicular to the direction of motion.

a). acceleration = ∆v / ∆t

so ,

acc = 20-10 / 60-50

acc = 10/10 = 1 m/s²

b) speed = 15m/s

d) distance = area of v-t graph

distance = 100+ 300 + 100 + 50

distance = 550m
