given :

u = 108 km/hr = 30 m/s

t = 10 sec

v = 0 (as the car stopped)

using equations of motion

i) v = u +at

0 = 30 + 10a

a = -3m/sec sq     (negative sign denotes deceleration)

ii) v^{2} -u^{2}  = 2as

    0 - 30*30 = 2(-3)s

    s = 900/6

       = 150 m         (where 's' is the distance travelled)
