A car is travelling along the road at 8m/s. It accelerates at 1 ms-2 for a distance of 18 m. How fast is it then travelling?

Using Newton's law of motion,  v^{2} - u^{2} =2as

where v is the final velocity, u is the initial velocity a is the acceleration and s is the distance traveled.

=>  v^{2} - 8*8 = 2*1*18
=>  v^{2} = 36+64
=> v = 10 m/s
