A car moves the first 20 km of a journey at a speed of 40 km/hr, and the next 20 km at a speed of 60 km/hr. what is the average speed of the car?

formula for this is 2V*U/V+U then you will get 2*40*60/40+60=48km/hr that is the answer

Average speed=total distance/total time taken
so time taken in first 20 km=20/40=1/2 an hour
time taken in next 20 km=20/60=1/3 an hour
Average speed=20+20/1/2+1/3=48 kmph
