Distance moved by the car first =120×1000=120000m

Time taken for the car to go=120000÷40=3000s

Distance moved by the car second=120000m

Time taken for the car to return

=120000÷60=2000s

Total distance moved by the car

=120000m+120000m=240000m

Total time taken=3000s+2000s=5000s

Average speed of the car

=240000m÷5000s=48m/s or 172.8 km/h
