Given Distance = 120km
Let the 40km/h be V1
Now,
Time taken = Distance / speed
which in our case equals 120/40 = 3 h
similarly,
we have V2 as 60km/h
The distance is going to be constant here, so
the time taken must be equal to 120/60 = 2 hours.
Now average speed = Total distance / total time taken
Hence, the Average speed here would be equal to 48km/h.
