Given Distance = 120km

Let the 40km/h be V1

Now,

Time taken = Distance / speed
which in our case equals 120/40 = 3 h

similarly,

we have V2 as 60km/h

The distance is going to be constant here, so
the time taken must be equal to 120/60 = 2 hours.

Now average speed = Total distance / total time taken

 = \frac{120 + 120}{3 + 2} \\ = \frac{240}{5} \\ = 48

Hence, the Average speed here would be equal to 48km/h.
