Given

  • Speed₁ = 80 Km/hr
  • Time₁ = 15 mins
  • Speed₂ = 100 Km/hr
  • Time₂ = 15 mins

To find

  • Total distance of the car

Solution

Case 1 :-

  • Speed = 80
  • Time = 15

Speed = Distance / Time

Distance = Speed × Time

Time = Distance / Speed

  • Distance = 80 × 15
  • Distance = 80 × 1/4

1/4 of 1 hour = 15 minutes

  • Distance = 20 Km

Case 2 :-

  • Speed = 100
  • Time = 15

Speed = Distance / Time

Distance = Speed × Time

Time = Distance / Speed

  • Distance = 100 × 15
  • Distance  = 100 × 1/4

1/4 of 1 hour = 15 minutes

  • Distance  = 25 Km/hr

Total distance covered by car :-

  • Case₁ Distance + Case₂  Distance
  • 20 Km 25 Km
  • 45 Km

∴ Total distance covered by car = 45 Km
