A car moving on a road with uniform acceleration cover 20 meters in the first second and 30 meters in the next second. What is its acceleration

Let u0 is initial speed. to get distance covered in first one second with acceleration a, we need to use equation "S=ut+(1/2)at2 "

 

hence for first one second we have :  u0+(1/2)a = 20 ....................(1)

 

at the end of first one second, speed u1 is  :  u1 = u0+a

 

Hence for next one second we have = (u0+a)+(1/2)a = 30 ..............(2)

 

By solving (1) and (2), we get u0 = 15 m/s, a = 10 m/s2
