we need to find the retardation of the car
So,
From the given information we can conclude that ;
- Initial velocity of the car ( u ) = 15 m/s
- Final velocity of the car ( v ) = 0 m/s
- Distance travelled ( s ) = 3 meters
Using the equation of motion ;
✎ v² - u² = 2as
✎ ( 0 )² - ( 15 )² = 2 x a x 3
✎ 0 - 225 = 6a
✎ - 225 = 6a
✎ 6a = - 225
✎ a = - 225/6
✎ a = - 37.5 m/s²
Hence,
Acceleration = - 37.5 m/s²
Since negative acceleration is termed as " retardation "
Therefore,
Retardation of the car ( a ) = - 37.5 m/s²
