A car of mass 2400 kg moving with a velocity of 20 m per second is stopped in 10 second on applying brake calculate the retardation and the retarding of force

Negative acceleration on the car,

v = u+at

a = (v-u)/t

a = (0-20)/10

a = -2 m/s²

Now force,

F = ma

F = 2400×(-2)

F= -4800N

retardation =v/t
= 20/ 10
= 2 m/s²
retarding = m x retardation
=2400 x 2
