Let's do one the warm into 2 parts..
1) The distance is travelled into next 8 sec i.e in total 12sec.
2) The distance travelled into the next 4 sec i.e In total 12 sec.
Given,
u = 0
a = 5m/s^2
t = 8 sec.
Using the eq. s = ut+1/2at^2
s = 0+(1/2)*5*8^2
s = 160m.......... This is the distance travelled in 8 sec.
Now while considering the 2nd part the final velocity in the first becomes the initial in the sec.
Find the final velocity = v = u+at
U get v = 40m/s
In the second part it is said that the body moves with uniform velocity i.e a = 0
Using the eq. s = ut+1/2at^2
U get s = (40*4)+0
s = 160
Therefore the total distance travelled = 160+168
= 320m
