. A car starts from rest and moves along the x-axis with constant acceleration 5 m/s2 for
8 seconds. If it then continues with constant velocity, what distance will the car cover in

u=0m/s
t=8seconds
a=5m/s²
v=u+at
v=0+5(8)
v=40m/s²
and distance travelled in these 8 seconds will be
S= ut+ ½at²
S= 0(8) + ½(5)(8)²
S=160m
now for the next 4seconds,
v= 40m/s
and t=4 seconds
so distance travelled will be
S= v.t
S= 40(4)
S= 160m
so the total distance travelled in these 12 seconds=(160+160)=320m
t=8seconds
a=5m/s²
v=u+at
v=0+5(8)
v=40m/s²
and distance travelled in these 8 seconds will be
S= ut+ ½at²
S= 0(8) + ½(5)(8)²
S=160m
now for the next 4seconds,
v= 40m/s
and t=4 seconds
so distance travelled will be
S= v.t
S= 40(4)
S= 160m
so the total distance travelled in these 12 seconds=(160+160)=320m
