the average speed of the car is 26.67km/h.

The total time for the journey is given as,

t= \dfrac{d_1}{v_1}+ \dfrac {d_2}{v_2}

t= \dfrac{30}{40}+ \dfrac{30}{20}

=2.25hour

The average speed is given as,

v_{avg}= \dfrac{d_1+d_2}{t}

= \dfrac{30+30}{2.25}

=26.67km/h
