time taken when going = 100/60 = 5/3 hrs

time taken when returning = 100/40 = 5/2 hrs

average speed for the whole journey

= (100+100)/(5/3 + 5/2)

=( 200 x 6 )/ (10+15)

= 1200/25

= 48 km/hr
