Answer:

Given Data

Distance = 100 km

Speed = 60km/h

Return Speed = 40km/h

Speed = distance / time

Forward speed = 100 / time

60 = 100 / time

time = 100 / 60

time = 1.6 h

Return speed = 100 / 40

time= 2.5 h

TOTAL TIME = 1.6+2.5

= 4.1 h

AVERAGE SPEED = TOTAL DISTANCE / TOTAL TIME TAKEN

AVERAGE SPEED = 200 / 4.1

AVERAGE SPEED = 200 / 4.1 = 48.78 km / hr

VELOCITY IS ZERO BECAUSE THERE IS NO CHANE IN POSITION
