Average speed = total distance covered / total time taken
Speed(av) = d1 + d2 / t1 + t2 = d1 + d2 / d1/s1 + d1/s2
Speed(av) = 100 + 100 / 100/40 + 100/60
= 200 / 100( 1/40 + 1/60)
= 2/(1/60 + 1/40)
= 2/(4 + 6 /240 )
= 2/( 10/240)
= 2/(1/24)
= 2 x 24 = 48 km/hr
Speed(av) = d1 + d2 / t1 + t2 = d1 + d2 / d1/s1 + d1/s2
Speed(av) = 100 + 100 / 100/40 + 100/60
= 200 / 100( 1/40 + 1/60)
= 2/(1/60 + 1/40)
= 2/(4 + 6 /240 )
= 2/( 10/240)
= 2/(1/24)
= 2 x 24 = 48 km/hr
