Question

  • A car travels 180 km in 6 hours and a bus travels 315 km in 9 hours at uniform speeds. Find the ratio of speed covered by the car to the bus.

Given

  • Car distance = 180 Km
  • Car time taken = 6 hours
  • Bus distance = 315 Km
  • Bus time taken = 9 hours

To find

  • Ratio of speeds of car to bus

Solution

  • Speed = Distance/Time
  • Speed = 180/6
  • Speed = 30 Km/hr (car)
  • Speed = Distance/Time
  • Speed = 315/9
  • Speed = 35 Km/hr (bus)

Ratio of car speed to bus speed :-

  • 30 Km/hr : 35 Km/hr
  • 6:7 is the required ratio
