Answer: The velocity of the car in mi/hr and m/s is  80 mi/hr and 35.76m/s respectively a car travels 240 miles south in 3 hours.

Explanation:

In this question it is given that a car travels 240 miles south in 3 hours.

we have to find the velocity of the car in mi/hr and m/s
Distance or Displacement of car = 240 miles south

Time taken = 3 hours = 3hr

velocity in miles/hr = Displacement/time = 240mi /3hr = 80 mi/hr.

To find in metre/second
1 mile = 1609.34m
240 miles= 240 x 1609.34 = 386243 m
3 hr = 3 x 60 x 60 = 10800seconds
Thus, velocity in m/s =  Displacement/time = 386243 m/10800s = 35.76m/s

Hence,  the velocity of the car in mi/hr and m/s is 80 mi/hr and 35.76m/s respectively a car travels 240 miles south in 3 hours.
