Given:

  • Speed of car when travelled from A-B = 45km/h
  • Speed of car when returning to the initial point = 30km/h

To find:

  • Average speed
  • Average velocity

Solution:

Firstly finding average speed using ,

Average speed = 2V1V2/V1 + V2

Here ,

  • V1 = 45km/h
  • V2 = 30 km/h

Substituting we have

→ 2(45)(30)/45 + 30

→ 90(30)/75

→ 2700/75

Average speed = 36km/h

Now , finding average Velocity

As we know that

Average velocity = Displacement/Total time

Here , the car travelled from point A - B again returned to B - A that means , the car travelled from & returned to the same place

Then , displacement = 0 m/s

→ Average velocity = 0/time

Average velocity = 0 m/s

Hence , average speed = 36km/h & average velocity = 0 m/s
