we know that
velocity=displacement/time
speed=distance/time
here distance is given but displacement doesnt means distance=displacement
speed =distance/time
speed =200/5
 speed=40km/h=displacement

Speed, velocity of the car in this journey is 40 km/hr.

Given data:

Displacement in north direction, d = 200 km

Time, t = 5 hour

To find:

Velocity = ?

Solution:

Simply, putting the value in the velocity formula, we can get the solution,

As the displacement is value of distance in a direction, thereby taken as such.

[tex]\Rightarrow \text{Velocity} = 40 \ km/hr=\frac{\text {Displacement}}{\text {Time}}[/tex]

v=\frac{200}{5}

Speed is defines the magnitude and velocity defines the speed with direction. So, the speed on the car is 40 km/hr and the velocity of the car is 40 km/hr in north direction.
