total distance=400 km
consumes x l/km
total petrol used= \frac{400}{x}
distance=400 km
after service= x+5 l/km
total petrol used= \frac{400}{x+5}

Grand total=[tex] \frac{400}{x} + \frac{400}{x+5} \\ \\ \frac{400x+2000+400x }{ x^{2} +5x} \\ \\ \frac{800x+2000}{ x^{2} +5x} [/tex]
