What are meant by tangents and how many types of tangents are available?

Tangent are the line that touches the circle straightly, the pt. at which it touches the circle is called Pt. of Contact.

We can draw many circles... but from a exterior pt. we can draw only 2 tangents.

A tangent is a straight line that intersects a circle or curved surface at one point. For a circle, there a infinite number of tangents that can be drawn but from an external point only two tangents can be drawn. Please refer the diagram.
