Half distance=x
Time=Distance/Speed
Time for one half of journey=x/80
Time for other half of journey=x/40
Avg speed=Total distance/Total Time
=2x/((x/80)+(x/40))
=2x/((x+2x)/80
=2x/(3x/80)
=2x×80/3x
=160x/3x
=53.3 km/h
