Distance from A to B = 85 km

Distance from B to C = 45 km

Total time, t = 1.3 hrs

Average speed

= Total distance travelled / Total time taken

= 85 + 45 / 1.3

= 130 / 1.3

= 100 km / h

A car travle 85 km from point A to B then 45km from point B to C. The total time that car travel is 1.3 hours.

We have to find the average speed of the car.

Average speed is defined as the ratio of total distance covered with respect to total time taken. Whereas average velocity is defined as the ratio of total displacement with respect to total time taken.

Now,

Total distance covered by car = Distance covered by car from (A to B + B to C)

= (85 + 45) km

= 130 km

Total time taken = 1.3 hr

Average speed = (Total distance covered)/(Total time taken)

Substitute the values in the above formula,

→ 130/1.3

→ 1300/13

→ 100 km/hr

Therefore, the average speed of the car is 100 km/hr.
