Solution:

Given:

=> Resistance = 62 kΩ

                       = 62000 Ω

                       = 62 × 10³ ± 5% Ω

  • Red = 2
  • Blue = 6
  • Orange = 3
  • Gold = ±5%

So, colours attached to the numbers are, 6, 2 and 3 and the colour codes are blue, red and orange and ±5% is Gold.

Extra Info:

What is resistance?

  • Resistance is a measure of the opposition that a circuit (or an electrical element) offers to the flow of electric current . You might compare it to the diameter of a hose.
  • In fact, for metal wire, this is an excellent analogy: small-diameter wire has high resistance (a lot of opposition to current flow), and large-diameter wire has low resistance (not much opposition to electric currents). Resistance is measured in Ohms, Ω.
  • R = ρL/A
  • Where, ρ is the resistivity of the material of the wire which remains constant for that particular material.

Color sequence for a carbon resistor:

  • Black = 0
  • Brown = 1
  • Red = 2
  • Orange = 3
  • Yellow = 4
  • Green = 5
  • Blue = 6
  • Violet = 7
  • Grey = 8
  • White = 9
